A self described ocean fanatic, Nick Nairn-Smith hails from the coastal paradise of Cremorne, Tasmania. With Nick’s penchant for chasing five star swells, his images on SeaLand are the product of years worth of personal efforts & local knowledge. Obsessed with the form of waves, Nick focuses on capturing the essence of the ocean’s intense energy. His ability to anticipate the ocean’s behaviour often results in alternative and unusual images.

Nick enjoys the entire process of bringing his images to fruition; checking the weather charts, travelling to remote locations & spending hours immersed in the water. Only a select few of these images will find a home on SeaLand. Recognised for his talent and dedication to surfing photography, Nick has seen his work featured in prestigious publications such as Whitehorses and Surfing World.

In recent years Nick’s commitment to his photography has been acknowledged with several accolades. In both 2019 and 2023, he was a standout recipient in the “Seascape” division of the renowned Sony Alpha Awards. His images secured him the runner-up position in 2019 and multiple finals positions in 2023.
