Winter Night

This photograph was taken at night during midwinter in the town of Derby in northeastern Tasmania. Mist rising from the lake and river is illuminated by the town lights, leading to unique colours. Cooling air causes water vapour to condense over the water-bodies. Hills and the Milky Way can be seen in the background, becoming obscured by the gathering mist.
