PixieÕs Parasol

This image depicts the beautiful blue fungus Mycena interrupta growing on a fallen log. The caps are only 0.8-2 mm across but the brilliant colouration makes them stand out from the crowd as they go about their business of breaking down the decaying wood and returning the nutrients to the biological cycle of the temperate rainforests.
